Arrayit® Pin and Printhead Cleaning Kits contain the equipment, solutions, reagents and tools required for ultrasonic cleaning of Arrayit Printing Pins: Professional Series, 946, Stealth and ChipMaker™ Pins. Advanced ultrasonic acoustics and surface chemistry remove particulates and other contaminants from Arrayit pins. Kits are ideal for cleaning micro spotting pins used in high-throughput labs.

Short Cleaning Protocols
Light Pin Cleaning Routine Pin Cleaning Intensive Pin Cleaning Printhead Cleaning
Mild cleaning in between print runs Routine cleaning in between print runs after pin storage Restores surface tension properties of tips by removing built-up minor corrosion Done at 2 – 3 month intervals or as needed
1. Fill Ultrasonic Bath with 1 liter of distilled H2O.
2. Place Pins in Floatable Pin Cleaning Rack.
3. Place Rack with Pins in Ultrasonic Bath.
4. Sonicate for 5 mins.
5. Remove rack and dry pins.
6. Place clean Pins in Printhead and resume printing.
1. Fill Ultrasonic Bath with 1 liter of 5% Micro Cleaning Solution.
2. Place Pins in Floatable Pin Cleaning Rack.
3. Place Rack with Pins in Ultrasonic Bath.
4. Sonicate for 5 min.
5. Rinse bath and Rack with Pins thoroughly with tap water.
6. Sonicate for 5 mins. in distilled H2O.
7. Remove Pins and dry.
8. Place clean Pins in Printhead and resume printing.
1. Clean Pin tips by topical application of Pin Tip Cleaning Solution.
2. Fill Ultrasonic Bath with 1 liter of steam distilled water.
3. Place Pins in Floatable Pin Cleaning Rack.
4. Place Rack with Pins in Ultrasonic Bath.
5. Sonicate for 5 mins. in distilled H2O.
6. Remove Pins and dry.
7. Place clean Pins in Printhead and resume printing
8. Remove Pins and dry.

 

1. Use nitrile gloves and safety glasses.
2. Remove Pins from Printhead
3. Prepare 50 ml of hot (65°C) Printhead Cleaning Solution
4. Scrub outer Printhead surfaces for 5 mins.  with rectangular Printhead brush
5. Scrub each Pinhole (5 –10 mins.) with a cylindrical brush
6. Rinse Printhead thoroughly with distilled water.
7. Rinse Printhead thoroughly with 100% ethanol.
8. Dry the Printhead with a Cleanroom Wipe or forced air.
9. Reinsert Pins.
10. Resume printing.

Ultrasonic cleaning bath and Floatable Pin Cleaning Rack   Insert pins straight into the holes
Ultrasonic Cleaning Bath and Floatable Pin Cleaning Rack included with # PPCK80UB; Rack floats in one-liter volume of liquid.   Insert pins straight into the holes of the Floatable Pin Cleaning Rack. Pin collars should rest against the top of the rack.
Cover the tops of pins and use a particle and oil-free source of horizontal stream forced air   To clean pin tips, brush pins with Pin Tip Cleaning Solution
Cover the tops of pins and use a particle and oil-free source of horizontal stream forced air to dry pins after sonic cleaning. Make sure tip of forced air source does not come into contact with pins.   To clean pin tips, brush pins with Pin Tip Cleaning Solution; 10 to 20 brushing and dipping cycles are sufficient to remove oxidation of pin tip. Use protective gear when applying Pin Tip Cleaning Solution.
